Prescription Policy
CPAP is considered durable medical equipment (DME) by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This means that you need a prescription from your doctor or medical provider to buy or rent a CPAP machine or humidifier. A prescription is also required for CPAP masks and some accessories, such as Heated tubing. However, you do not need a prescription for other CPAP supplies and parts, such as water chambers, mask parts, headgear, cushions, and pillows.
